Wilcom model F6240 is a slim Visual Fault Locator (VFL) that features a universal adapter accepting any optical connector with a 2.5mm ferrule. It operates on standard AA alkaline batteries providing a 30 hour battery life.
The F6240 features a choice of continuous or modulated output and a bright red (650nm) laser which will illuminate singlemode fibers up to 7 km and multimode to 5 km. The 2.5mm universal adapter eliminates need to use patch cables with ST, FC or SC connector styles.
This valuable tool is one that all installers and maintenance personnel should have in their tool kit. It is the most economical test tool for quickly verifying continuity, checking the validity of patch cables before or after installation, finding breaks and micro-bends, or looking for damaged fiber in splice cases.
An optional adapter is available for testing 1.25mm LC fiber connectors.
